Akira Kurosawa’s lauded feudal epic presents the story of a petty thief who’s recruited to impersonate Shingen, an ageing warlord, with a purpose to keep away from assaults by competing clans. When Shingen dies, his generals reluctantly conform to have the impostor take over because the highly effective ruler. He quickly begins to understand life as Shingen, however his dedication to the position is examined when he should lead his troops into battle in opposition to the forces of a rival warlord.
